Vineyard

Area of vineyards and grape varieties

We have 60 hectares of vineyards spread throughout the village of Palmela where grapes of the following varieties are produced:

Red Grapes
Account for 90% of the vineyards, being: Castelão (70%), Trincadeira, Aragonez, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tinta Miuda, Alicante Bouschet and Moscatel Roxo.

White grapes
Account for 10% of the vineyards, being: Fernão Pires, Avesso, Moscatel de Setúbal, Moscatel Petit Grain, Travadura,Verdelho Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

The planting of vines exposure has a very important role. As well as exposure of the vineyards, we have chosen for the white varieties EO guidance to ensure greater freshness in the vineyards and thefor red varieties the NS for better sun exposure and better ripening of the grapes.

Type of soil and Climate

Located between two rivers, the Tagus and the Sado, dominates the plain and its mainly composed by smooth structure and sandy texture. The climate is predominatly mediterranean with a very long dry-season.
